Happy Patriots’ Day!
I thought this would be a “belated” happy Patriots’ Day post, but according to Wikipedia, it’s celebrated on the third Monday of April. It’s easy to forget since it’s really only celebrated on the East Coast, specifically, Massachusetts or Maine. Here in California, I spent the day mowing the lawn and removing a wasp nest from the shed… not your typical fanfaire to commemorate the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
Well, Irene Gallo is doing it the right way - Watching reenactments at the battlesite, and posting Paul Revere illustrations on her blog. Lesson learned, so here’s an oldie illustration I did in a similar style and genreĀ some ten years ago - not of Paul Revere, but of Alfred Noyes’ Highwayman… who was also riding ahead of the Redcoats, but sadly met a different fate.

“The Highwayman” Oil on Board. 16×20 inches.

Wow. That horse is great, very dynamic. I like the tri-cornered hat, too and that’s a good effect having him look one way and the horse another.

ahoy
I am searching for a reference image of a highway for a shoulder tattoo
- I love your art and wondered if you had any others similar or could refer me - as I will require a high resolution image for the artist to consider before drawing up his initial sketches on paper. I’m sure he/we have no intention of copying your / any other work - merely using reference
thanks a bunch
regards
