ABOUT THE ART

Oxford Quartet is based on a familiar sight along the route I take to pick my daughter up from school. Something about their shapes and arrangement as a group, with the long afternoon shadows, always feels rhythmic to me in such a musical way.

ABOUT THE PRINT

We call these Prints, but it is worth noting there is a lot more that goes into creating these prints compared to what we are used to when we think of inkjet or even offset prints run through a machine. First, the woodblock itself is meticulously carved over a period of weeks. Every detail, brick, shingle must be carved by hand. The inking of the block and rubbing the baren over the paper is also done by hand for every single print. In a sense, each print can be considered an original work of art in its own right, meant to be collected and appreciated for many years, possibly even generations… all for the price of a book or fancy poster!

With that in mind, please note that each print is slightly different, some with slight variations in color or with little artifacts (accidental ink in the margins, etc) due to the hand-printing process. Now, I will sometimes make mistakes beyond what I consider acceptable, and those are always left out of the edition. Please be assured I have carefully selected just 50 prints I would proudly hang in my own home.
